The Harris Federation of South London Schools is a single charitable legal entity to which all of the Harris Academies belong. Its aim is to operate as a group of collaborating Academies for the benefit of young people in South London.
The Harris Federation is governed by the Harris Federation Main Board which comprises the Chairmen of Governors of each Academy along with non-executive directors selected for their particular expertise. The Chairman of the Board is our sponsor, Lord Harris of Peckham.
Although the main board carries the legal responsibilities of Governors for all of the Academies, each Academy has a local Governing Body. This structure allows the Federation to provide central strategic direction whilst maintaining localness.
Whilst the Federation Board provides strategic direction, the key operational management group is the Principals’ Executive Group, chaired by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Dan Moynihan. This group meets half termly and reports directly to the Harris Federation Board through the CEO.
The Harris Federation Central Office supports the work of the Federation and leads in the set up of new Harris Academies. This is a small central office comprising the CEO, his PA Becky Elwin, The Director of Finance and Operational Development, Mike Antoniou and ICT Director, along with two Academy group ICT cluster directors who are largely based in the Academies.
The Federation comprises 7 open Academies with an 8th (Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich) being built. The Federation plans to expand to 12 Academies in the next two years.
