Year 10 to Perform at Cardiff's Millennium Centre
Over the past five weeks, our Year 10 Drama cohort has taken part in an extraordinary collaborative project with Mountview Drama School’s Community and Education Masters students.
Working intensively with these emerging theatre-makers, our students explored the complex theme of riots versus protests, focusing particularly on the Brixton Riots, the New Cross Fire, and how these events reverberated through neighbouring communities and shaped collective memory.
Through research-led workshops, devising sessions and ensemble rehearsal processes, Year 10 approached challenging socio-political material with maturity, empathy and curiosity. Their developing piece interrogated how communities respond to injustice, how protest movements evolve, and how young people can use theatre to speak back to history.

The project culminated in a powerful performance at Mountview on Saturday 6th December, where our students presented their original work to an audience of families, staff, peers and Mountview practitioners.
Their piece, blending physical theatre, spoken word, verbatim material and choral movement, was thoughtful, moving and beautifully crafted, demonstrating both their artistic skill and their deep respect for the subject matter.

We are thrilled to share that this work will continue to evolve: the piece has been selected to travel to Cardiff, where Year 10 will perform at the Wales Millennium Centre as part of a joint cross-institutional project. This is an exceptional opportunity for our students to experience professional-level performance environments and collaborate on a national platform.
Throughout the entire five-week process, our Year 10s have been nothing short of remarkable. Their professionalism, creativity, teamwork and resilience have shone at every stage, and their achievements stand as a testament to their dedication and to the strength of our partnership with Mountview.
They have made us incredibly proud, showing just how powerful young voices can be when given space, guidance and purpose.
