Brett Johal

Mr Johal completed his BA (Hons) in English Literature at Goldsmiths, University of London, before training to teach through the ARK Teacher Training programme. He began his career in Southwark, where he became Lead Practitioner in English, supporting high‑quality teaching and curriculum development across the department.

He then moved to a comprehensive school in Bromley, serving as Assistant Principal and Head of Sixth Form for three and a half years, before joining Harris Peckham as Assistant Principal.

Proudest moment in education: Watching my A‑level students open their results, after working so hard, and seeing the emotion on their faces as they realised they had achieved the grades needed to attend some of the top universities in the country — a moment in which they understood their futures had changed for the better, forever.

The thing I love about HAP: Our young people, who confront and overcome challenges every day. Their resilience, hard work and commitment to bettering themselves — and securing a fantastic future — inspire me daily.
