Homework - Our Approach

The homework we set at Harris Academy Peckham plays a key role in helping students reinforce what they learn in school, build good study habits and develop responsibility.
Homework gives students the chance to practice new skills, explore topics in more depth and grow more confident in their learning.
When children complete homework regularly, they’re better prepared for classroom discussions and assessments, and they learn how to manage their time and stay organised - important life skills that go beyond the classroom.
We set homework regularly and expect it to be completed to a good standard on time. You can read more about how we set homework on our Support with Homework page for parents.
How can you support your child with homework?
We support all our students with home learning. Our library is open for students at break and lunch every day where students can access computers. And we give rewards for regulation completion of home learning too.
As parents/carers, you can support your child's home learning by:
- checking your child has received and completed their home learning each day. All students are given a planner to support with this.
- Checking your child’s completion of Home Learning set on Microsoft Teams or other platforms. See our Support With Homework page for details.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s completion of Home Learning, please do not hesitate to contact us at enquiries@harrispeckham.org.uk
Remote learning
If your child needs to study from home in exceptional circumstances, we have clear procedures in place to ensure their learning continues with minimal disruption.
Drawing on our extensive experience with remote education, we know how to make it effective and engaging for students. Should the need arise, we’ll ensure that both you and your child receive the support and resources necessary to make learning from home a success.
