'Witness' at Theatre Peckham - Year 9 and 10 Trip
We were delighted to take a group of our Year 9 and 10 students on an inspiring trip to Peckham Theatre this week, an experience that combined cultural enrichment with powerful storytelling.
Our students had the opportunity to watch Witness, a gripping stage adaptation of Alex Wheatle’s acclaimed work. The performance follows the story of Cornell, a young teenager navigating life within a Pupil Referral Unit alongside other students who have been marginalised by mainstream education.
When Cornell witnesses a shocking act of violence, he finds himself at a crossroads - faced with the difficult choice of speaking out and risking everything, or remaining silent to protect those closest to him.
The production explored profound and thought-provoking themes including courage, loyalty, and the moral complexities of telling the truth. It was both educational and eye-opening, prompting meaningful reflection among our students. Judging by their reactions, the performance resonated deeply and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
