Greenwich Trip - Exploration, Learning and Fun
On Thursday 16th July EAL students took part in a full day of exploration, learning, and fun activities in Greenwich.
The day began with a visit to the Cutty Sark, where students had the opportunity to see the famous historic sailing ship and learn about its important role in maritime history. The visit sparked curiosity and provided a valuable learning experience.

Afterwards, we walked through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, travelling from the south bank of the River Thames to the north bank and then returning again. Along the way, students enjoyed impressive views of the River Thames and were excited to spot a large Viking cruise ship docked nearby.
We then enjoyed a relaxing picnic under the shady trees in the park, which provided a welcome opportunity to rest, eat lunch, and listen to a busker signing. Following lunch, we made our way up to the Royal Observatory. Although the walk uphill was tiring, everyone was rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of London, which many students said was breathtaking!

One of the most unexpected successes of the trip was a game of charades. For many students, it was their first time playing the game, and it quickly became a favourite activity. The game was full of laughter and enthusiasm, and even students with limited English were able to participate confidently. The activity helped students communicate creatively and work together, making it both inclusive and enjoyable.
Students returned happy, smiling, and full of stories to share. Several students described it as the "best trip ever!", a comment that reflects the success of the day and the positive impact it had on the group.
Overall, the Greenwich trip provided a wonderful balance of educational experiences, physical activity, sightseeing, and social interaction. It was a highly successful visit that created lasting memories for our students.
