"Faustus – That Damned Woman" at Mountview Drama School

Year 10 GCSE Drama students attended a performance of Faustus – That Damned Woman, an exciting contemporary reimagining of the classic Faustus story, performed at at Mountview Drama School.

Faustus   that damned woman threatre  visitThe play follows Johanna Faustus, a young woman who, driven by loss and injustice, makes a bold pact with the devil in her quest for knowledge, power, and control over her own destiny. Blending powerful storytelling with striking visuals, the production explores themes of ambition, sacrifice, gender, and the consequences of challenging the forces that shape our lives.

Students were fully engaged throughout and responded incredibly positively to the performance. They loved the bold staging, dynamic use of lighting and sound, and the intensity of the actors’ physical and emotional work. The visit has already sparked insightful discussions in lessons and will support their understanding of live theatre for Component 3.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience that enriched their learning and deepened their appreciation of contemporary theatre-making.
