Year 7 and Year 10 Visit All Saints Church, Peckham
On 9th December students from Year 7 and Year 10 enjoyed an enriching and festive visit to All Saints Church Peckham, where they deepened their understanding of Christian beliefs, Christmas traditions, and the role of the church within the community.
Year 7: exploring the Nativity and touring the church
Year 7 students focused on the nativity story, learning about its significance to Christians and how it is celebrated around the world. As part of their visit, they enjoyed a guided tour of the church, discovering key features such as the altar, stained glass windows, and the font. These elements helped bring their classroom learning to life.

The highlight for many was making their very own Christingles, a hands-on activity that helped them understand this symbolic tradition in the Christian calendar.
“I loved making the Christingles! It was so fun and I finally understand what all the parts mean.” Abdulraman, Year 7
Year 10: deepening GCSE knowledge through Q&A
Meanwhile, Year 10 students used the visit as an opportunity to extend their GCSE Religious Studies learning. They took part in a Q&A session with members of the church community, asking thoughtful questions about the importance of Christmas to Christians, as well as exploring broader Christian beliefs and practices to help inform their studies.
This discussion helped strengthen their first-hand understanding of the faith—an invaluable experience for their GCSE studies.

“Talking directly to someone from the church helped me understand Christian beliefs on a deeper level. It really supported what we’re studying for GCSE.” Anita, Year 10
The visit to All Saints Church Peckham was a memorable experience for all involved, combining festive creativity with valuable learning. Both year groups returned to school inspired and better informed about Christian traditions and beliefs, especially as Christmas approaches.
