Free school meals

The Academy writes to all parent/carers whose children are entitled to free school meals. We also assure parents that all matters regarding use of this fund are treated with discretion and in confidence.

Online Free School Meals (OFSM)

https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/harrisfederation

OFSM provides an online platform for applying for free school meals. Academies with the consent of parents or guardians may apply via an online form with a decision on eFSM status being returned almost instantly.

If you are unable to use the online system, please contact Ms Gordon by telephone 0207 703 4417 or via email  a.gordon@harrispeckham.org.uk

What next

Once we have received your application your details will be checked via the Eligibility Checking Service and you will be advised by letter whether or not your claim is successful.  Confirmation of eligibility will also be sent to your child(ren)'s school.

From April 2018 the criteria used to determine eligibility has been updated to reflect the roll out of Universal Credit payments. To ensure families are not disadvantaged during the roll out period the following arrangements have been put in place.

Any child eligible for free school meals on 1 April 2018 will retain their eligibility until the end of the roll out in March 2022 regardless of family circumstance change. Once the roll out of Universal Credit is complete no child will lose their entitlement and it will continue until the end of their current phase of education.

ParentPay

The Academy does not accept payment by cash or cheque but instead enables all payments to be processed through ParentPay. You can top up your ParentPay account using your credit/debit card or by using cash at local stores where you see the PayPoint logo.

ParentPay is a very secure website and free to use for parents/carers and staff. Payments can be made for school meals, trips, music lessons, equipment and other activities.

ParentPay benefits our students and the Academy in many ways not least by removing the risks associated with students carrying cash to the Academy and reducing administration which creates more time to devote to educational support and the smooth running of the Academy. Not using cash is particularly important during the Covid-19 pandemic where exchanging cash or cheques could pose a potential risk of contamination.

To use ParentPay you will need your unique user ID and password. Year 8-11 parents have previously been given your secure online account details which you would have been prompted to change these once you logged in and activate the account. Year 7 parents should receive a letter containing their user ID and password as soon as a child is fully registered as a student at the Academy so that they are able to start using ParentPay immediately. ParentPay holds an electronic record of your payments which you can view at a later date.

For further information about using ParentPay please contact Ms Brooks-Simpson in the Academy Reception Office.
