Student Council Initiatives for Black History Month
To celebrate black history month, our Student Council has arranged several initiatives you can take part in.
BHM Poster competition
We would like our community to celebrate our variety of Afro-Carribean cultures and place them on display. Please see the slide attached, promote to your tutor groups and contact us to make this happen.
BHM show and tell
Over tutor time we would like students to bring in a small appropriate object that signifies their black identity or how an aspect of black culture has influenced them. They can use tutor time over October to talk about this with their form.
BHM menu
Food in the canteen will be celebrating black culture. We have liaised with Compass catering to make this happen. We are also exploring the option for some black culture cooking workshops but this is obviously difficult in context of covid 19.
BHM assemblies
You will be seeing the student council frequently in assemblies. Over this month we will be celebrating LEAP in black culture.
The Sam King project
This is a drama project we are working on with Miss Paraskeva. Watch this space to find out more.
