Year 8 King's Scholars Design Their Own University
Year 8 took part in a Design a University Programme earlier this term, as part of the Kings Scholars Programme.
They explored different university subjects and focused on subject specialism and studying abroad, whilst also developing their metacognitive skills.
King's Scholars in Schools is a free scheme of work by King’s College London for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils that expands knowledge of university and develops metacognitive skills.
"The whole cohort were fantastic throughout the day and a credit to the school," said Eleanor Milne, Widening Participation Senior Officer (Pre-16 Programmes) at King’s College London. "We saw some amazing projects, posters, and presentations to represent their efforts. However, there were two students that we thought stood out on the day for their outstanding efforts, attitude, and contributions throughout the day: Carlin and Keera. We hope that these students can be recognised and rewarded at school and we look forward to working with this group in the future."
The six-lesson scheme of work is designed to equip KS2/3 students with:
- Metacognitive skills which are proven to raise in-school attainment
- The knowledge to access highly selective universities
