Alumni News - Sarah, Trainee Solicitor

Sarah E school photoHaving completed her GCSEs and A-Levels at Harris Academy at Peckham, Sarah went on to pursue a law degree at the University of Leicester.

Sarah had always been a very motivated and dedicated student, having achieved the highest GCSE grades of all females in her 2016 cohort with majority A*/A grades and top scores in her 2018 A-Levels also. At university, she not only secured first-year insight schemes with international law firms such as Clyde & Co, Macfarlanes, Shearman & Sterling and Herbert Smith Freehills, but also represented Herbert Smith Freehills as a Campus Ambassador for the university alongside her role as 2020/21 Chairperson of the Law School’s Law Society.

During university, Sarah set her sights on becoming a commercial solicitor and went on to secure a range of competitive vacation schemes at top law firms such as Clyde & Co, Farrer & Co, Bird & Bird and Wedlake Bell.

Sarah is now a Future Trainee Solicitor at the world’s largest employment law firm, Lewis Silkin, and will be starting her role in 2024.

Currently, Sarah is nearing the end of her post-university gap year and is preparing for the final stage of her legal career before her training contract starts, the LPC. Sarah is excited to be starting her LPC at BPP Holborn in London in September.

During her gap year, Sarah worked with charity SEO London to support aspiring commercial lawyers. Sarah has always been passionate about voluntary work and giving back to society. Sarah also continues to mentor students from low socioeconomic backgrounds free of charge, as she wishes to see a more diverse and inclusive legal world.

Sarah owes a lot of her self-confidence and successes to Ms. Kettle, who was her English teacher and mentor during her time at Harris Academy Peckham, who put Sarah forward for rewarding schemes such as Debate Mate and Gifted and Talented. Due to this, Sarah left the academy feeling very inspired and motivated to make her teacher proud.
