That Peckham Boy – Kenny Imafidon Meets HAP students

“I look forward to the future” was the feedback of one Year 10 student after author and entrepreneur Kenny Imafidon discussed his book That Peckham Boy with book blogger John Paul Kunrunmi during a visit to Harris Academy Peckham.

Growing up in Peckham, Kenny led a double life in his teens: a successful student by day and cannabis dealer at night. On his 18th birthday he was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. After six months in prison, he was determined to make something of his life.

After completing his studies and securing prestigious internships and work experience placements he managed to be awarded an Amos bursary to study law. He is now running a successful research agency focussing on under-represented groups. “I wrote the book to show people that regardless of where you come from or what your circumstances are, you can be who you want to be," he told students.

Year 10 students felt very encouraged. Kenny Imafidon clearly excels in every LEAP category: Leadership, Enquiry, Aspiration, Perseverance and is giving back to the community. What an inspiring visit!
