Celebrating Black History Month: History Students Engage with Powerful Film Screening
As part of our Black History Month celebrations, the History department proudly hosted a special screening of Red, White and Blue, a critically acclaimed short film from the BBC’s Small Axe series, directed by Steve McQueen and starring Peckham’s own John Boyega.
The film tells the compelling story of Leroy Logan, a pioneering Black officer in the Metropolitan Police who worked tirelessly to challenge institutional racism and reform the force from within. His journey of resilience, justice, and identity resonates deeply with themes explored in our History curriculum and wider school ethos.
This event was designed as a reward for our top History students in Years 9 to 11—those who have demonstrated exceptional curiosity, commitment, and engagement throughout the half term along with our growing number of history enthusiasts with a budding interest in the subject.
We are proud of our students for their thoughtful participation with our History curriculum and look forward to further opportunities to explore history through meaningful and engaging screenings to commemorate events and achievements throughout history over this academic year.
