Library Legends: The Power of Student Librarians
Student librarians play a vital role in keeping our school library organised, welcoming, and vibrant.
Student librarians are responsible for a wide range of activities, including shelving and organising books, checking books in and out, maintaining displays and assisting students with finding resources. They help keep the library neat and accessible, ensuring materials are in the right place.
Sameera, Year 7 (pictured below), has been an absolute star this year, keeping shelves tidy and available for everyone.
Beyond the basics, student librarians often take part in promoting reading through book recommendations, organising reading challenges, and helping with events like visits from primary school students. Their involvement encourages a culture of literacy and curiosity throughout the school.
Their engagement also builds valuable skills. “I enjoy helping other students find what they’re looking for,” says Arsalan, Year 7 (pictured below).
Volunteering in the library teaches responsibility, time management, and communication - all skills that benefit students far beyond the library walls. Our wonderful student librarians are essential to the heart of our school library.
